Big power figures get attention. Tyres often do more of their work quietly. In its 10 August preview for IAA Transportation 2026, Hankook said it would present new trailer and winter tyre solutions alongside its existing commercial-vehicle range.
The planned display also includes Smart Fleet tyre-management services and Alphatread retreading. The manufacturer’s stated focus is on operating costs, energy use and fleet efficiency. These are preview claims—not independent test results or a confirmed South African product launch.
Look past the tread photograph.
Our fleet lens: tyre technology earns its place through the duty cycle it serves. Before comparing products, identify the axle position, approved size and load rating, route conditions and service support. A tyre shown on a tractor’s steer axle is not evidence that a new trailer product is ready for local fitment.
Likewise, a connected tyre service needs an operating process behind it. Ask who receives an alert, who checks it and what happens next. This is a preview of a manufacturer’s plans, not an independent comparison of braking, wear or fuel use; no unverified savings figure should drive a purchase.
